Batavia School District makes top 50

Batavia School District is in the top 50 in Illinois–for fattest Superintendent pensions. The Batavia Patch 7/15/14 reports on data published by the Taxpayers United of America. Batavia’s former superintendent, Jack Barshinger, ranks #30 in a list of superintendent pensions in Illinois. He retired in 2013 at age 59 with an annual pension of $219,997. He made $307,184 in employee contributions, just 3.8% on a lifetime estimate of $8,187,147  (assuming an 85 year life expectancy and a 3% compounded annual cost of living adjustment).  Overall, he ranked 85th on the list of the top 200 government pensions in the state.

That’s a sweet deal–for Barshinger. For the rest of us taxpayers forced into feeding his retirement, it kind of leaves a bitter taste.
